When You Go on Vacation...
If you're going to be away from your computer for an extended period of time, it's important that you plan ahead so that your mailbox doesn't fill up and begin bouncing mail while you're gone. You can do one of three things:
- Unsubscribe from the lists, and subscribe again when you return; OR
- Switch to the digest versions to reduce the volume of e-mail (and ensure you won't miss anything while you're gone); OR
- Switch your account to inactive so you no longer receive mail
The first two options, unsubscribing and switching to digests, are covered on their own pages -- just click on the above links. Below are instructions on switching your subscriptions on either PrintShare or PrintOwners to inactive status.
NOTE: Do not ever use an auto-respond feature in your e-mail software while you're away, unless you first unsubscribe to every list and you have received confirmation that you have indeed been unsubscribed. Otherwise you may set off a vicious e-mail loop that is difficult to stop and will certainly not win you any friends among your fellow listmembers!
Making Your PrintShare Subscription Inactive
- To change your PrintShare subscription to inactive (you will not receive any messages), send a blank e-mail message to:
Any message sent to that address will automatically change your subscription status to inactive; you will be able to send messages to the list, and easily re-activate your subscription (see below), but you will not receive any list messages. You will receive a message within a short time confirming that your subscription has been changed to inactive status.
- To make your subscription active again (such as when you return from an extended absence), send a blank e-mail message to:
Any message sent to that address will automatically change your PrintShare subscription from inactive to active, and you will begin receiving list mail again. You will receive confirmation within a short time that your subscription has been changed to active status.
Making Your PrintOwners Subscription Inactive
- To change your PrintOwners subscription to inactive (you will not receive any messages), send a blank e-mail message to:
